#PROLOGUE ,    THE EARLY YEARS. 

william was born into the byers family, & unknown to him, this family was suffering long before he came into it. his parents didn't love each other & jonathan, his older brother, had to do all he could to keep their mother & his younger brother safe. will thought this was normal, that his dad's actions were just how a father acts around his family. how wrong he was. jonathan tried to keep will away from it as he held onto hope that he would grow up better. however, his dad still called him unspeakable things & worked on making him into what he wanted will to be. will was so young, & he thought if he did these things, that his dad would love him. in the end, it made no difference & he unitionally ignored it. will wanted nothing more than to believe that his dad would change.

#PROLOGUE ,    THE EARLY YEARS. 

moving forward in his life, will starts kindergarten at hawkins elementary, but he's scared. he has no friends & the words his dad has said to him stick in the back of his mind, which keeps him from trying to make friends. however, that all changes one day when a boy from will's class comes over to the swings & says he's going to be his friend. this boy's name is michael wheeler, but he tells will to call him mike. mke, the name swims around in will's head & while the two of them swing together at recess, & at that moment will slowly began realizing that he now has a friend. suddenly, the big, lonely world started to feel more comfortable & less lonely & all it took was having a friend.moving forward just a little in time & will's friendship with mike is proving to be the best thing in his life at this point. mike offers more than just friendship to will. while the two of them are young, mike has become a safe person & his house a safe place when things at will's own home become unsafe. however, no matter how anyone looks at it, the two boys are too young for this, but life can't be all bad things, right? will then gets two new friends &they slowly become safe people for him as well. he is slowly starting to believe that things could get better &before he knows it, his dad has left. now his family is broken, but were they ever truly whole to begin with?

#UNKNOWN CHAPTER ,    THE TROUBLESOME TEENAGE YEARS. 

the years have continued to move forward &will doesn't recall the last time he saw or heard from his dad, but it is now only a thought in the back of his brain. however, his words stick with will & come back to him as an echo from the bullies at school. will tries to not let it bother him, &after all, he has a great group of friends who care about him. will has also come out of your shell around them & begun to like new things because of their influence. from the highs of playing a new arcade game to the adventures that await in a dnd game, there is rarely a dull moment in his life & on top of that school isn't the worst.however, when will's life starts to feel right, it all changes one november night in 1983. after a game of dnd at mike's house, will goes home as usual, but on his way home, something follows him. fear overtakes him as he bikes faster, but no matter how fast he goes, he can't escape whatever is chasing him. the moments that follow after will gets home fade into a blur, & he doesn't remember much except for the fear that dominates him until there is nothing. what he remembers next is waking up in a hospital bed with his mother & jonathan at his bedside while looking relieved, & then suddenly, it all returns. the demogorgon from the campaign got him. only the danger was real & will now must live with the aftermath.
